Lead Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Urology opening in Boston, Massachusetts - 10 miles from Boston Details: FT, permanent APN Äì Nurse Practitioner Lead is responsible for coordination of a clinical program, including program development, quality assurance and coordination of patient delivery systems while participating in all aspects of patient care. This position may involve oversight of other staff in the program. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader to the department. Essential Responsibilities: Performs and documents histories and physical examinations. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests. Writes orders for medications and treatments according to licensure guidelines. Assesses patient response to treatments. Participates in patient rounds and case conferences. Maintains and follows patient care protocols. Works in collaboration with physicians, fellows and house staff in educating patients and families. Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education, and review of current literature for self and other advanced practice providers. Works with team of healthcare providers to improve the quality of care given to patients. Meets regularly with the Clinical and/or division Manager to plan and facilitate patient care improvements. Ensures that evidence based medicine is followed for the particular patient population. About Hospital: 200+ bed community hospital. Four-time Magnet Status designated. Separate ASC and Endoscopy Suite. Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing required. License Nurse Practitioner License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required. 3-5 years related work experience required. MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA American Heart Association Äì Basic Life Support Certificate Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise.
